Amoureux de la Pâtisserie

Ahem! No prizes for guesstimating today's motif. Anyway, I'll keep it to you guys and move on with the post. Bagged an early lunch on the way to turn up at nearby movies (Duh!! It isn't about the food at the movies). The movie lasted a whopping 3 hours and I was playing along with the yapping tune of what turned out to be my peckish tummy. But I needed more than stuffing myself with another ordinary meal. I need something which would bring back the pizzazz in me after a tiresome venture.

"I need some caffeine," exclaimed my soul.

Not Starbucks, again. I need to explore my options making it more vivid than treading along monotony. About a fortnight ago, I remember my friend stating about a French pastry café in the surroundings I was in. I immediately lunged at my phone and started looking for the same and ..........

A French Pâtisserie!!!!!!!!!!

I pushed the throttle like a maniac whose last wish would be a shot of caffeine(ya, the same old 60mph!!). Reached the place which was tucked in a corner of a complex consisting of various shops & restaurants. It has a small outdoor place to it which looked captivating. I entered the café and it was not that busy considering a Saturday after-mete.

However, I went ahead and grabbed a menu. Saw lot of appetizers and breakfast menu items you would snack on while having a sip of coffee. You need to order right there before grabbing a table of what looked like ordering at a Subway. I asked the lady at the counter if she could help me with any of their elite dishes one would favor relishing alongside a cup of coffee.

She suggested me a classique French dessert. I was perplexed as I never heard about it before and I wasn't aware if it would generate the oomph on my palate. Well, I just thought to myself as if it were some perks you receive on asking someone's suggestions.

Anyway, already down in the trench, I might as well ask her what to pair it with. She made me aware of their spécial double shot Cappuccino. Hence, I completed the order to reignite my vigor. I grabbed a table and the café was filled with a vintage character to it. Perfect for some solitary time. Out came the server with my piping hot coffee and the classique.

At the first glance, nothing to get amazed with the coffee, but the sheer excitement for the dessert was fulfilled looking at what turned out to be Mille Feuille, also known as Thousand-Leaf.

Mille Feuille is a french pastry dated to be around from the 16th century. According to the server, it has three layers of puff pastry and is often filled with vanilla or custard filling. Just the look at the dessert with the buttery and flaky crust makes you bewildered of its non-existence in every café around the corner. It's sprinkled with oodles of powdered sugar and topped off with a chocolate chip baring the name of the Pâtisserie.

I immediately sipped into my coffee and Oh boy!! Exactly what I needed. Quite strong as stated and perfectly needed to relieve my jaded look. Went ahead and took a bite of the pastry. I was offered cutlery but the puff pastry layers were crispy and the filling had crème which was sinfully buttery. So, I went old school with this one, and shoveled down a chunk of the pastry.

The french classic was a perfect amalgamation of sweet and savory and it was utterly finger-licking(Literally!!!). These both were the perfect duo one should look forward to as an after-mete special.
